Visit Annaba Province

Annaba Province is located in the northeast corner of Algeria, near the Mediterranean Sea and Tunisia. It is known for its economic activity, which includes fishing, oil production, and industrial production. Annaba Province also has some beautiful beaches and nature reserves along its coast.

Must-see tourist attractions include Collo Beach; a long white sand beach with crystal clear waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing; Boussaada Castle, a medieval fort built in 1580 by Ottoman troops; and the ruins of Hippo Regius (also called Hippone), an ancient city established by Phoenicians in the 5th century BC.

Historically speaking, Annaba Province was once part of Numidia, a Berber kingdom that existed until it was conquered by Rome during the Punic Wars. Later on during Roman rule it became an important trading port, due to its location at the mouth of river channels leading inland to other settlements.
