Visit Batna Province

The Batna Province of Algeria is a stunningly beautiful region located in the Aures Mountains of northeastern Algeria. The area is renowned for its vast open plains, majestic mountains, and rolling sand dunes. It is home to some of the most impressive archaeological sites in North Africa, including the ruins of Timgad, a Roman city founded by Emperor Trajan in 100 AD.

Batna province offers visitors plenty to explore and experience. In addition to its ancient ruins, visitors can enjoy hiking and camping in nearby national parks such as Djebel Aissa National Park or Sidi Mahdi National Park. Tourists can also visit local markets where they can buy top-quality leather goods and handmade carpets or sample local specialties such as brik pastries filled with tuna or cheese.

One particularly interesting historical fact about the region is that it was once part of the Berber Kingdom of Numidia under Jugurtha in 112 BC before becoming part of Rome's African provinces around 40 BC. Today it continues to serve as an important cultural center for Algerian culture and history, with many historic buildings still standing throughout Batna Province today.
