Visit El Djazaïr Province

The El Djazair Province of Algeria is a region filled with rich history and culture. It is located in the northern part of Algeria, south of the Mediterranean Sea. The largest city in the region is Oran, which serves as its administrative center, and it offers an array of attractions for visitors. Tourists can enjoy sites such as Fort Santa Cruz, built in 1577 by Spain to serve as a stronghold against Ottoman invasions; or take a stroll through Place du 1er Novembre 1954 Square which features memorials to Algerian independence from French control.

Other touristy places to visit include La Dune Rose (The Pink Dune), where you can take a camel ride or go sandboarding on this pink dune; and the magical Andalusian Gardens, offering stunning architecture that will transport you back into time when Moorish rule dominated this area.

One interesting historical fact about El Djazair province is that it was home to one of North Africa's oldest cities - Tipasa - founded by Phoenicians around 800BCE but conquered many times over by Romans, Vandals and Byzantines before being declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
