Visit El Tarf Province


El Tarf is a province located in the northeast part of Algeria. It has a coastline along the Mediterranean Sea and borders Tunisia to the east. El Tarf is known for its lush forests, rolling hills, and serene beaches.

Tourists can visit the historical site of Timgad, an impressive Roman ruins built by Emperor Trajan in 100 A.D., or check out Fort Beni-Ikhlef - a fort laden with history stretching as far back as Ottoman times.

The capital city of El Tarf is Tebessa, located on Algeria's eastern border with Tunisia. Tebessa was founded as ancient Thabraca in 1895 BC and has some interesting places to explore including old churches dating back to Byzantine times and many museums detailing local history.

El Tarf's rich historical legacy is seen today throughout its architecture which includes colorful Spanish-style buildings from former colonial days when it was part of French Algeria until 1962 independence from France. This region also boasts an interesting mixture between Berber culture from nearby Morocco combined with traditional Algerian culture rooted deep into this region's history .
