Visit Ouargla Province

The Ouargla Province is located in the Sahara Desert region of Algeria. It is the fourth largest province in the country, with an area of 368,978 square kilometers and a population of over 1 million. The capital city of Ouargla has several notable historical monuments, such as the Great Mosque, which was built in 1680 and served as a base for various Islamic rulers throughout its history.

The region also boasts some beautiful natural attractions such as Guelta d'Archei National Park and Tassili n'Ajjer National Park. The former features sand dunes, wells, oases and ancient rock paintings while the latter's landscape includes canyons and plateaus filled with prehistoric cave art from millennia ago.

Additionally to these sites Ouargla Province offers many other interesting places to visit like El-Oued which is one of Algeria's most prominent oases cities that have grown around old vestiges from antiquity or Ghardaia where Maqam Echahid monument stands proudly honoring those who sacrificed their lives during Algerian wars for independence.

For those who are looking for an interesting historical tidbit about this region should know that it used to be part of Numidia - an ancient kingdom that existed until it was conquered by Rome in 46 BC.
