Visit Tlemcen Province

Tlemcen Province is located in the northwest corner of Algeria and is part of the historic Maghreb region. It has been an important cultural center for centuries, and many famous religious scholars have studied there. The Province's capital, Tlemcen City, dates back to Roman times and was once inhabited by the Berbers. Today, it is a modern city that has preserved its rich cultural heritage with many monuments from different eras dotting its landscape.

One of the must-see attractions in the province is Chellah, an ancient Roman settlement with ruins dating back to the 11th century AD. Another popular spot for tourists to visit is Sidi Boumediene Mosque which houses some beautiful Islamic artworks and architecture from various periods.

Tlemcen also played a significant role during Algeria's fight for independence, as it was the location of one of Europe's first guerrilla campaigns against French colonial rule during World War II. A historical museum dedicated to this struggle can be found at Maison de la Moudjahidine (House of Veterans).
