Swains Island is an unpopulated atoll located in the Tokelau group of the Samoa Islands, and is part of American Samoa. The island is just over a mile across and its highest elevation is 13 feet above sea level. Swains Island was settled by William Young and his family in 1856, who stayed on the island until 1925 when they were forced to move due to rising sea levels.

Tourists that visit can explore an array of different activities such as snorkeling, diving, birdwatching and other sightseeing opportunities in this remote uninhabited paradise. Other touristy places include Enuenga Park which has a few stunning ruins from earlier settlers along with a rich history about Swain's past inhabitants; or take a boat ride out to Lalo Reef for some amazing fishing or to swim and observe dolphins in their natural habitat.

An interesting historical fact about Swains Island is that it was both annexed by the United States but also claimed by Tokelau; however since 2011 it has been officially designated as part of American Samoa under U.S territory making it one of the only two U.S overseas territories with no permanent resident population - making its unique beauty available for everybody to explore!
