Visit Cunene Province

Cunene is a province of Angola located in the south of the country. It borders Namibia and Zambia, and its capital is Ondjiva. The region has an arid climate with temperatures that reach up to 43 degrees Celsius (110 Fahrenheit).

The province is home to some amazing natural attractions such as the Ruacana Falls and Etosha National Park, which are great places to spot wildlife like elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions and antelopes. Other interesting sites include Mupa National Park and Cuando Cubango.

Historically speaking, Cunene was part of the Kingdom of Ondonga before it was colonized by Portugal in 1867. In 1975 it became part of Angola when it declared its independence from Portugal; this led to a civil war that lasted until 2002--the same year Cunene gained autonomy from Huila Province.
