Visit Huambo Province

The Huambo Province of Angola is located in the central part of the country and covers an area of 50,963 km2. It has a population of over 3 million people, with a majority being Ovimbundu and Kimbundu ethnic groups. The capital is the city of Huambo, which is known for its colonial architecture from Portuguese times.

Tourists visiting Huambo should definitely check out the Tchitundo-Hulo rock paintings, which date back to around 12000 years ago. They are among some of the oldest artworks in Africa! Another tourist attraction is Cathedral Nova da Se de Huambo - a majestic Catholic church built in 1939, it's one of Angola's most beautiful landmarks.

Huambo also has an interesting history - it was once home to one of Africa's first railways and was considered as one of Angola's most developed cities during colonial rule by Portugal. This legacy can still be seen today with its impressive monuments scattered throughout town.
