Visit Corrientes

Corrientes is a province of Argentina located in the Mesopotamia region, along the banks of the Parana and Uruguay Rivers. It's known for its lush vegetation, vibrant culture, and unique history. Tourists flock to Corrientes for its beautiful natural sites like Ibera Wetlands and Mburucuya National Park as well as its charming towns such as Ituzaingo with its colonial architecture.

The city of Corrientes is also worth exploring, with several historical sites such as the monument to General Belgrano or La Casa de la Cultura which hosts art exhibitions. Visitors can also enjoy authentic cuisine like chivito (barbecued goat) while taking part in traditional folk dances called chamame or payada that celebrate Correntino culture.

Interestingly, Corrientes played an important role during the Argentine War of Independence due to clashes between Spanish forces on one side and Guarani Indians and Argentine patriots on the other side. The war ended in 1820 when General Belgrano declared independence at his camp outside what is now Corrientes City.
