Visit Armavir Region

The Armavir Region of Armenia is known for its ancient historical sites, beautiful landscapes, and pristine mountain air. Located just 30 miles from the capital city of Yerevan, this region offers a number of tourist attractions to explore.

The medieval fortress of Ejmiatsin is a must-see. It was built in the 4th century by King Trdat III and has since been renovated several times over the centuries. It's now home to one of the largest religious centers in Armenia - Etchmiadzin Cathedral - which contains an ancient altar, bell tower, and museum filled with artifacts from antiquity.

Another popular tourist spot is Azat Reservoir, a man-made lake that connects to Ararat Plain via River Azat. It provides stunning views over Lake Sevan and Mount Ararat, plus plenty of opportunities for swimming, fishing or boating activities.

On top of these natural attractions, Armavir also has historical significance as it was here that Armenia's first Christian king - Tiridates III - declared Christianity as the official state religion in 301 AD. This event signaled a major turning point for Armenians and stands as an important part of their nation's history today.
