Visit North Abaco

The North Abaco region of the Bahamas is a paradise for those looking to get away from it all. The sparsely populated area features some of the most beautiful beaches and clear turquoise waters in the Caribbean, and provides visitors with a peaceful atmosphere. It offers white sand beaches, mangroves, national parks, lagoons and creeks perfect for kayaking.

Two of the most popular attractions in North Abaco are Guerney's Key Island National Park and Sandy Point Beach - both ideal spots for snorkeling or swimming among colorful coral formations. Both locations also boast historical sites that reflect on past life in this area.

An interesting fact about North Abaco is that its first inhabitants were Loyalists who migrated from Charleston, South Carolina after the American Revolutionary War in 1783-1784; they set up nine plantations here which remain visible today as ruins around Marsh Harbour and Cherokee Sound areas.
