Barisal Division is a beautiful part of Bangladesh located in the south-central region. It encompasses eight districts and is known for its abundant rivers, lush greenery, and rich cultural heritage. Tourists flock here to explore the breathtaking natural beauty and vibrant culture.

Barisal Division has a long history dating back to 12th century AD when it was ruled by Chandrasena Deva I, who built an ancient city called Charipara at the confluence of two major rivers Kirtankhola and Kirtonkhola near modern-day Barisal city. This area was later annexed by many rulers like Mughals, Portuguese colonists before becoming a part of British India in 1760s where it flourished with jute trade until 1947 when it became part of East Pakistan which later became Bangladesh in 1971 following liberation war against Pakistan.
