Discover Paltan

 
Paltan is a small city in Bangladesh located on the banks of the Dhaleshwari River, 23 kilometers east of Dhaka. Its population is estimated to be almost 1 million people. Paltan is renowned for its archaeological sites and ancient Hindu temples, many of which date back to the 7th century. The area has also become famous for its vibrant culture and traditional festivals.

While visiting Paltan, visitors can enjoy exploring its rich archaeological sites such as Mahasthangarh, which was once one of the largest cities in Bengal during 3rd century BC and contains ruins from a large citadel area. Nature lovers can also explore nearby wetlands full of diverse flora and fauna, including some threatened species such as Bengal Florican or Lesser Adjutant Stork. Moreover, Paltan's cultural attractions include Rajbari or Palace Mosque built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir during his campaign to spread Islam through India and Bangladesh in 1675 AD; Choto Sona Mosque; Kantajew Temple; Shat Gambuj Mosque; Bibi Begni Shrine; and National Martyrs Memorial at Savar honoring martyrs who died during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 .
