Visit Saint George

Saint George of Barbados is a city located on the east coast of the Caribbean island. It is known for its rich culture, beautiful beaches, and colonial history. A popular tourist spot in Saint George is St. Michael's Cathedral, which was built in 1628 and is considered a national landmark. The nearby Garrison Savannah area also provides plenty of activities and attractions such as horse racing and picnics with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The city has many interesting historical sites to explore including the Parliament Buildings (built in 1639), St Nicholas Abbey (built in 1650), Nidhe Israel Synagogue (the oldest synagogue in the Western hemisphere) and numerous old military fortifications from past wars.

Aside from its historical significance, Saint George also has plenty to offer visitors looking to relax or have fun: golfing at one of several championship courses; scuba diving around reefs with abundant marine life; nightlife and restaurants lining Hincks Street; or shopping at Cave Shepherd or Broad Street Mall for souvenirs or local crafts. An interesting fact about Saint George is that it was once claimed as an English colony by Sir John Yeamans before being given back to Barbados in 1667!
