Antwerp is a city located in the Flemish region of Belgium, and is home to an estimated 500,000 people. It's known as the diamond capital of the world as it houses a majority of the world's rough diamonds. Antwerp has a rich history and culture, with many attractions for both locals and tourists alike.

One must-see spot in Antwerp is Rubenshuis - the former home of Peter Paul Rubens that has been converted into a museum dedicated to his life and works. Here you can take fascinating guided tours or attend special exhibitions related to the artist's life and artwork. Another popular tourist destination is Meir - one of Europe's longest shopping streets which features over 200 stores offering luxury items at reasonable prices.

Antwerp also has some interesting historical facts such as its connection with Spanish painter Peter Paul Rubens who lived there from 1609-1614 during which time he created several masterpieces that are now among some of his most famous works. Furthermore, Antwerp was once occupied by French troops during the Napoleonic wars in 1792 but was liberated three years later by an Anglo-Dutch alliance led by William V, Prince of Orange.
