Flemish Brabant is an area in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is situated in the east of Brussels, and covers a large area of around 2,106 square kilometers. The capital city of this region is Leuven, home to the University of Leuven, one of Europe's oldest universities.

This region offers many tourist attractions, including historical sites like Opwijk and Bierbeek Castle which date back to the 18th century; outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling along Laan van Meerdervoort; and charming towns like Tienen where visitors can explore picturesque streets lined with shops and cafes.

One interesting historical fact about Flemish Brabant is that it was originally part of a small province called Brabant which dates back to Medieval times. In 1815, after defeat by Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo, this province was divided into two separate entities - Flemish Brabant being one half - but both still maintain strong cultural ties today.
