West Flanders is a province of Belgium located in the country's western region. It has an impressive coastline along the North Sea and is home to many wonderful towns, villages, and cities. One of its most popular destinations is the city of Bruges, known for its stunning medieval architecture and charming canals. Tourists can also visit Damme, a historic village with interesting monuments and galleries.

The history of West Flanders dates back as far as the 9th century when it was part of the County of Flanders. In 1678, it passed to France before becoming part of modern-day Belgium in 1815. The Battle of Passchendaele during World War I was fought here between German and Allied forces from July to November 1917; this battle remains a major event in Belgian history today.
