Visit Gasa District

The Gasa District is located in the northwestern corner of Bhutan and is one of the most remote districts in the country. It encompasses a variety of landscapes, ranging from alpine meadows and snow-capped mountains to dense subtropical forests. The pristine beauty of this area attracts hikers and nature lovers alike.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Gasa is Gangtey Goenpa, a beautiful monastery perched atop a hill overlooking Phobjikha Valley. The views from here are breathtaking, making it a great spot for photography enthusiasts. Nearby, visitors can also explore Tsokar Lake, which is known for its crystal clear waters and various migratory birds that flock here each season.

In addition to its stunning natural wonders, the region has numerous historical sites that tell stories about how Gasa was formed centuries ago. One such site includes Chhorten Karpo Lhakhang Temple which dates back to 1320 AD and houses priceless artifacts such as statues of Buddha dating back to 8th century Tibet.
