Visit Lhuntse District

The Lunana district of Bhutan is a remote and mountainous area located in the north of the country. It is one of the least populated districts in Bhutan and has remained largely untouched by modern development. Here, visitors will find breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks including Mt. Gangkhar Puensum, the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.

In addition to its stunning natural beauty, Lunana also features some cultural attractions that are sure to delight visitors. The ancient temple at Laya village is particularly interesting as it contains some of Bhutan's oldest artifacts from pre-Buddhist times. Other points of interest include a traditional yak herder's camp near Yaktsa village and several alpine lakes like Jigme Dorji-Taachhu Tsho which offer unparalleled beauty and peacefulness.

One can't visit Lunana without mentioning its unique history as well - it was once part of an independent kingdom with its own kings who ruled until 1907 when they were overthrown by Ugyen Wangchuck who would go on to become Bhutan's first king. This fascinating history combined with its stunning landscapes makes Lunana District an ideal destination for tourists looking for a unique experience in Bhutan!
