Visit Samtse District

Samtse District is one of the 20 districts of Bhutan, located in the southwest and bordering India. It is known for its diverse landscape that ranges from lush subtropical to alpine forests. One of the main attractions in Samtse is Chhuzom, a pilgrimage site consisting of three temples dedicated to Guru Rimpoche, representing his teachings and philosophies. In addition, nearby Dzongri Forest offers an array of stunning mountain views and beautiful hiking trails for visitors seeking adventure.

When it comes to history, Samtse District was once home to a powerful family dynasty from Tibet who had great influence during the 16th century when they moved here. This dynasty left behind many ancient artifacts such as stone inscriptions which can still be found across Samtse today.
