Visit Chuquisaca Department


The Chuquisaca Department of Bolivia is located in the center of the country and borders five other departments. It has a population of over one million people, making it the fourth most populous department in Bolivia. The capital city is Sucre, which serves as the constitutional capital of Bolivia. The department is home to some stunning landscapes, including lush green valleys and snow-capped mountains.

Visitors can explore a variety of archaeological sites in Chuquisaca, such as Inkawasi, an Inca site near Potosi with stone structures and terraces carved into rocky terrain. For those wanting to take in some nature, there are numerous national parks including Amboro National Park where you can spot over 600 species of birds as well as tapirs and jaguars.

Chuquisaca also holds an important place in Bolivian history as it was here that Simon Bolivar declared independence from Spain on 6 August 1825 - a day now celebrated annually throughout South America with pride and joy!
