Francistown is the second largest city in Botswana and a key hub for business, trade and industry. Located in the north-eastern corner of the country, it sits on the Tati River near its confluence with the Notwane River. Founded by prospectors looking for gold during colonial times, Francistown has grown into a vibrant city known for its bustling markets, diverse culture and rich history.

As one of Botswana's oldest cities, Francistown has much to offer visitors. The first stop should be at Baobab Square where you can find the iconic baobab tree that gives it its name along with lively music and art performances throughout the year. For those interested in history and archaeology, there is also a museum located nearby which houses artifacts from early settlement as well as tools used by traditional craftsmen.

Shoppers will enjoy exploring some of Francistown's many markets including Mokolodi Market which specializes in traditional crafts like basket weaving or Jwaneng Market which sells everything from fresh produce to electronic goods at unbeatable prices. Finally no visit to Francistown would be complete without sampling some of the local cuisine such as seswaa (beef stew) or sorghum porridge served with thick cream sauce!
