Visit Salomon Islands


The Salomon Islands region is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), located in the central Indian Ocean. The archipelago consists of small islands, cays and atolls, and is renowned for its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and lush green vegetation. This paradise provides a variety of activities for visitors to explore such as snorkelling and diving in the underwater coral gardens abundant with marine life.

Aside from soaking up the sun and relaxing on the beach, some sites worth visiting are Denis Island - an isolated but stunningly beautiful island known for its picturesque lagoons - as well as Aldabra Atoll which is home to a diverse range of wildlife including giant tortoises, rare birds and species of crabs found nowhere else on Earth.

Salomon Islands has centuries' worth of interesting history behind it; it was first discovered by Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in 1502 during his voyage to India. Later in 1835 it served as an important military base during World War II when Britain formed a base there called 'Camp Joe'.
