Visit Haskovo Province
Haskovo Province is located in southeast Bulgaria and is bordered by Turkey, Greece, and the Rhodope Mountains. It is an area rich in history and culture, with many interesting sights including the Ivanovo Rock-Hewn Churches which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region also has a number of historical monuments such as the Haskovo Monument of Liberty, the Hristo Botev monument in Dimitrovgrad and the medieval ruins at Perushtitsa. Tourists will find plenty to explore including natural attractions such as Bachkovo Monastery which dates back to 1083 and the Stara Reka Nature Park for nature lovers. An interesting fact about Haskovo Province is that it was once part of Ancient Thrace and later became part of Bulgaria during its independence from Ottoman rule in 1878.
