Visit Bubanza Province

The Bubanza Province of Burundi is located in the northwest region of the country, bordering Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The province has a rich culture and natural beauty, with savannas, rolling hills, and lakes dotting the landscape. Historically, it was an important trading center on an ancient caravan route connecting Lake Tanganyika with western provinces.

Tourists visiting this area can explore its stunning nature by visiting Kibira National Park or Rweru Marsh. Kibira National Park is home to a variety of wildlife such as elephants, monkeys and antelopes; while Rweru Marsh is a popular spot for bird-watching. Adventurous visitors can also take part in activities such as mountain biking or swimming in nearby Lake Rukurazi.

An interesting historical fact about Bubanza Province is that it was formerly known as Urundi before its annexation to Rwanda-Urundi after World War I - finally regaining independence from Belgium in 1962 when it became known as Burundi.
