Visit Newfoundland and Labrador

Newfoundland and Labrador is the most easterly province in Canada, located on the Atlantic coast. It has some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Canada, with its rolling hills, glacial valleys and picturesque coastline. The capital city is St. John's which offers a vibrant culture that celebrates it's Irish roots through art and music festivals.

Popular tourist attractions include Gros Morne National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - known for its dramatic coastal landscapes and hiking trails, as well as Signal Hill National Historic Site which offers stunning views from atop the rocky hillside overlooking St.John's Harbour.

The province also has an interesting history; it was one of the first provinces to join Confederation in 1869 after six years of negotiations with Ottawa over rights to land and fishing territories around Newfoundland Island (now known as Labrador). Additionally, it holds claim to being home to one of North America's oldest continuous cultures; evidence suggest that aboriginal people have inhabited Newfoundland since at least 9200 BCE!
