Discover Cambridge Bay
1.5 thousand
Cambridge Bay is a small hamlet located in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada. With a population of just over 1,500 residents, it is one of the most remote communities in the country. Founded by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1921, Cambridge Bay is still an important hub for local Inuit culture and language. Visitors can explore its rugged terrain, take part in traditional activities such as hunting and fishing trips and experience unique Arctic wildlife through guided tours or hikes around town.
For those looking to experience something truly unique, there are two main attractions that shouldn't be missed: The Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) which offers visitors guided tours through world-class research facilities; and the cultural center Iqaluk Atagutiit which provides traditional arts classes focusing on Inuit music and dance among other things. Additionally, visitors can explore relics from World War II at Fort Conger or go dog sledding to get up close with some of Cambridge Bay's local wildlife.
