The Church of the Ascension is a vibrant Anglican church in Ottawa, Canada. Located in the Glebe neighbourhood, it has been serving the community for more than 140 years. The interior of the church is breathtakingly beautiful, featuring stained-glass windows and intricate wood carvings. Every Sunday morning there is a service for all ages to join in worship and fellowship with one another.
One of the most well known features of this church is its pipe organ which was built by renowned Canadian organ builder Casavant Freres in 1977. It has 16 ranks with an impressive 607 pipes ranging from 8 feet to 1/4 inch! Visitors can also admire the colourful mosaic tile artwork that adorns both sides of the altar. The Church also houses a number of historical artifacts including old photographs and monuments that tell stories about its rich history as part of Ottawa's community. -
