Visit Barlavento Islands


The Barlavento Islands, located in the archipelago of Cape Verde, is a beautiful region known for its white-sand beaches and often described as an African paradise. It includes six main islands: Santo Antao, Sao Vicente, Santa Luzia, Sao Nicolau, Sal and Boa Vista.

One of the most popular tourist destinations here is Santa Maria beach on Sal Island where tourists can take part in various watersports activities such as surfing or kiteboarding. Other interesting places to visit include the Burracona Natural Pool located on Boa Vista island which was declared a protected nature reserve by UNESCO in 2016.

In terms of history, it's noteworthy that this area was used by Portuguese traders during their exploration forays throughout Africa due to its strategic position at the crossroads between Europe and Africa making it unique culturally speaking with influences from both continents.
