Visit Gribingui

The Gribingui of Central African Republic is an ethnic group that inhabits the northern part of the country. They are mainly farmers, living off the land and relying on traditional methods to survive in their harsh desert environment. Locals speak French and Sango, two of the official languages of Central African Republic.

One of the most popular tourist attractions is Dzanga-Sangha National Park, where visitors can observe a variety of wildlife such as elephants, chimpanzees and gorillas. Not far from here is Lobaye National Park which offers stunning views from its volcanic crater covered in dense vegetation surrounded by mountain peaks.

An interesting historical fact about Gribingui people is that they have been living in this region since at least 1300 AD when they were mentioned in a book written by Arab traders travelling through West Africa. Despite being an isolated society until recently, their culture remains strong and vibrant today with unique customs and rituals still practiced by locals around art making, music or festive occasions like weddings or funerals ceremonies.
