The Ombella-M'Poko Prefecture is located in the Central African Republic, just north of the capital Bangui. It covers an area of 7,678 square kilometers and is home to over 300,000 people. Its rolling hills are covered with lush tropical vegetation, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism. The main city in the prefecture is Berberati, which has several interesting landmarks worth visiting. The Notre Dame de Berberati cathedral is a stunning example of colonial architecture from the 19th century and a must-see for any traveler. Nearby is Mount Boukouma National Park, where you can find a wide variety of wildlife and explore some unique geological formations created by volcanic activity millions of years ago.

An interesting historical fact about this region: In 1932 Ombella-M'Poko was one of four provinces that made up Ubangi-Shari during French colonial rule as part of French Equatorial Africa (AEF). It wasn't until 1959 that it became part of the newly formed independent Central African Republic.
