Visit Vakaga Prefecture

The Vakaga Prefecture is located in the northeastern region of the Central African Republic. It has a population of approximately 143,000 people and features an array of diverse cultures and languages due to its proximity to Sudan, Chad, and South Sudan. The capital city is Birao, where many historical sites are located including traditional buildings from the early 19th century.

For tourists looking to explore the prefecture, one must-see destination is Doli Falls. This awe-inspiring waterfall plunges over a 50 meter cliff into a deep pool below that's perfect for swimming or just taking in the natural beauty of this part of Africa. Another popular spot is Gounda St Floris National Park which offers an abundance of wildlife species like elephants, monkeys, lions and more.

One interesting fact about Vakaga Prefecture is that it's home to the oldest known stone tools in Central Africa which are believed to be more than 500,000 years old. This suggests that humans have been living here since at least Paleolithic times!
