Visit Chari-Baguirmi

The Chari-Baguirmi region of Chad is an area located in the country's western region. It is a traditional homeland to the Sara people, and has been inhabited since at least the Stone Age. The Chari-Baguirmi region includes many tourist attractions, such as Lake Fitri--one of Chad's largest lakes--and Goundi National Park, home to two species of endangered antelopes. Visitors can also explore the ancient city of Bongor and its mud buildings, or discover the area's unique culture by visiting local markets and artisan workshops. One interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once part of an independent sultanate that lasted until French colonization in 1900. Today, the Chari-Baguirmi remains a fascinating place to explore for tourists looking to experience something different from other areas in Chad.
