Visit Guéra Region

The Guera Region of Chad is a fascinating and diverse region in the west of the country. Located on the edge of the Sahara Desert, it has many deserts, mountains, and savannas to explore. Its population is made up of primarily Sara people that have lived in this area for centuries.

One interesting tourist attraction to visit is Doba National Park which offers stunning views and an abundance of wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes and buffaloes. It also contains some archaeological sites from pre-historic times with relics from ancient cultures.

An important historical note about this region is that it was ruled by four successive African dynasties: Ouaddai Empire in 10th century; Wadai Empire in 15th century; Dar al Kuti dynasty between 1750-1900; and Touraogo dynasty between 1900-1959 when Chadian independence occurred. This turbulent history still shapes life today in Guera Region making it an intriguing place to visit.
