Visit Lac Region


The Lac Region of Chad is a beautiful and culturally diverse area in central Chad, located between the Central African Republic and Sudan. It is home to the ancient Kanem-Bornu Empire, as well as many other traditional societies, making it an interesting destination for tourists. The region also has many natural features such as rivers, lakes, forests and savannahs that attract outdoor travelers.

One of the main tourist attractions in the Lac Region is Lake Fitri, which hosts a variety of wildlife including hippos and crocodiles. It is also known for its vibrant bird population with over 140 species recorded in the area. For history buffs there are plenty of archaeological sites around Lake Fitri where visitors can learn more about this ancient kingdom.

Another must-see attraction in the Lac Region is Ouara Dunes National Park where tourists can experience some spectacular desert landscapes with rolling sand dunes as high as 50 meters (164 feet). Here visitors can explore local communities and learn about their customs and traditions.

Lastly, an interesting historical fact about this region is that it was part of Sultan Idriss Alouma's empire back in the 13th century when it was one of the most powerful Islamic empires on earth at that time!
