Visit Logone Oriental Region

The Logone Oriental Region of Chad is located in the southernmost part of the country and is bordered by Cameroon to the east and Sudan to the south. It is home to a variety of cultures and languages, including Arab, Kanembu, Fulani, Bornu, Langi and Ouaddai. The region's landscape consists mainly of savanna grasslands dotted with hills and rivers.

One popular tourist destination in Logone Oriental is Guereda Nature Reserve. This pristine area has a wide variety of wildlife ranging from birds to primates. It is also home to some rare species such as Arabian oryx and African wild dogs. Tourists can go on game drives during the dry season for an up close look at animals like antelopes, elephants and giraffes.

Logone Oriental has a long history dating back to pre-Islamic times when it was part of the powerful Kingdom of Kanem-Bornu Empire that stretched from Lake Chad across modern day Nigeria and Niger before its decline in 1808 after centuries of rule. Today visitors can explore archaeological sites such as Fort-Lamy (now N'Djamena) which was built by French explorers in 1906 during colonization attempts over much of Central Africa at that time.
