The Atacama desert, located in Chile, is the driest non-polar desert in the world. With its vast landscapes and breathtaking views, it is a popular tourist destination for travelers from around the world. The arid landscape consists of towering sand dunes, salt flats, active geysers and bubbling hot springs.

One popular attraction is Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), where visitors can explore impressive rock formations carved by wind and rain erosion over time. Another must-see spot is El Tatio Geyser Field -- a unique field with more than 80 geysers ready to awe any visitor.

The history of the Atacama Desert dates back to 10,000 BC when it was inhabited by hunter-gatherers prior to Inca's conquest in 1450 AD. The desert has also been used as a location for filming blockbuster movies like Star Wars: Rogue One due to its remarkable terrain.
