Discover Talcahuano
The Puerto Montt neighborhood has plenty of options for sightseeing with its colorful houses perched on stilts and its markets selling local seafood dishes like curanto along with other regional products such as traditional crafts and artworks. The San Vicente Island located just off the coast provides beautiful views across this area as well as opportunities for kayaking or sailing around it's mangrove forests. The Mercado Fluvial de Talcahuano (Fluvial Market) allows visitors to buy fresh seafood right off the boat from local fishermen in addition to other souvenirs that can be found here. Finally, those interested in history should visit Fort Rapel which was built during colonial times by Spanish conquistadors and offers visitors an insight into past military operations here in this coastal region.
