Dunhuang is a city located in Northwest China, in the autonomous region of Gansu. Situated on the edge of the Gobi Desert, Dunhuang was once an important city along the ancient Silk Road. Its long history has left this small city with many cultural and historical attractions, making it a popular tourist destination.

For travelers visiting Dunhuang, two must-see spots are the Mogao Caves and Crescent Lake. The Mogao Caves are famous for their Buddhist murals and sculptures that date back to as early as 4th century AD. Visitors can explore over 700 caves with elaborate frescoes depicting stories from Buddhism and Chinese culture over thousands of years. Just outside of town lies Crescent Lake, which is surrounded by red sand dunes that dramatically contrast against its emerald green waters. After admiring them from afar, visitors can take camel rides across their highest peaks to truly experience this breathtaking landscape up close! Other nearby attractions include White Horse Pagoda, Singing Sand Mountain National Park and Yumen Pass Great Wall - all remnants of Dunhuang's rich past waiting to be explored!
