Visit Qinghai


Qinghai is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the northwest of the country. It is bordered by Tibet Autonomous Region to the southwest and Xinjiang Autonomous Region to its northwest. Qinghai boasts stunning landscapes, ranging from vast grasslands and alpine meadows to snow-capped mountains and deep gorges, making it a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.

Popular tourist attractions in Qinghai include Lake Kokonor, which is one of the three largest inland lake in China; Kumbum Monastery, a renowned Tibetan Buddhist sacred site; and Upper Xuqu River National Nature Reserve where visitors can find rare species such as Mongolian gazelle and wild donkey.

An interesting historical fact about Qinghai is that its original name used to be "Koko Nor" or "Blue Sea" until 1724 when it was renamed as "Qing Hai" by Emperor Yong Zheng during his reign as part of Manchu identification strategy.
