Visit Shandong


Shandong is a province in eastern China, located along the Yellow Sea coast. It is one of China's most populous provinces and its landscape is characterized by rolling hills, plains, rivers and mountains. Shandong features various historical and cultural sites that attract tourists from all around the world. One of the top tourist attractions in Shandong are the earthen Taoist temples at Mount Tai; this mountain has been a place of pilgrimage for more than 3,000 years. Nearby, one can visit Qufu--the birthplace of Confucius--which includes numerous historic monuments such as the Confucius Temple complex and Kong Family Mansion. Another interesting fact about Shandong is that it was once part of Imperial Japan during World War II; Japanese forces occupied much of the area until their surrender in 1945. The province also offers breathtaking views from its high-altitude cable cars at Laoshan Mountain National Scenic Area or visitors can explore Yantai's coastal city streets while sampling some local seafood delicacies!
