The Caqueta Department of Colombia is located in the Southeastern region of the country, bordering both Ecuador and Peru. This area is known for its lush tropical rainforest, abundant wildlife, and diverse cultures. The capital city of Florencia is one of the most important cities in this region and serves as a gateway to some of the most untouched natural areas in Colombia.

The Tatacoa Desert is a great tourist destination in Caqueta and it has some amazing landscapes featuring unique geological formations like hills, riverbeds, canyons and cacti. In addition to this amazing desert there are also several national parks such as Los Alpes National Park which features a huge variety of flora and fauna species as well as an abundance of waterfalls that are perfect for swimming or just admiring from afar.

The department's history dates back centuries ago when it was inhabited by various indigenous factions such as the Quimbaya people who left behind archaeological sites filled with artifacts made out stone tools used by them to hunt for food during ancient times. Currently there are over 28 different ethnic groups living together peacefully throughout this fascinating department located far south from Bogota Colombia's largest city.
