Cundinamarca offers some amazing views with its high mountains, rivers and valleys that surround it. Its most popular tourist attractions include the historic city of Zipaquira with its famous Salt Cathedral and Chicaque Nature Reserve where visitors can enjoy a variety of flora and fauna while hiking or bird watching.

One interesting historical fact about Cundinamarca is that it was host to the Battle of Boyaca during Colombia's struggle for independence from Spain in 1819. This battle resulted in a decisive victory for Colombian forces over Spanish troops which ended three centuries of colonial rule in South America.
