The Huila Department is a province in the south of Colombia, located between the Andes mountain range and the Amazon rainforest. It is known for its incredible landscapes, rich culture and diverse wildlife.

Located at an altitude of 1,400 metres above sea level, it boasts spectacular scenery with hills, rivers and valleys. The climate is mainly humid tropical with temperatures ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Huila has plenty of tourist attractions including San Agustin Archaeological Park where you can explore ancient ruins from over 2000 years ago and Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy which offers trekking through glaciers and pristine lakes surrounded by mountains.

The Huila region also has many historical sites such as its colonial cities like Neiva that was founded in 1539 by Spanish conquistador Juan de Cabrera. Today it features several galleries, museums and churches that display centuries-old artefacts related to religious art or colonial architecture.

Finally, Huila is home to some of the best coffee plantations in Colombia thanks to an ideal combination of soil type and temperature for growing coffee beans making this area world renowned for its coffee production since 1835 when first introduced by French immigrants.
