Norte de Santander is a department located in the northeastern region of Colombia. It is bordered by Venezuela to the east and has an area of 21,408 km2. The main economic activities include agriculture, livestock, tourism, industry and commerce. There are several tourist attractions in Norte de Santander such as El Guache which is a natural reserve surrounded by mountains that provide beautiful views and other nature sites for exploration. Also Cucuta which is home to many cultural sites including churches and museums.

An interesting historical fact about Norte de Santander was that it was part of the Captaincy General of Venezuela during colonial times before being ceded to Colombia after independence in 1821. Today it still maintains its Venezuelan influence with many cultural traditions such as music, cuisine and festivals like the Festival De La Chinita each year held in April at El Tablon Alto del Rio Pamplonita where locals gather for fun activities like traditional dances costumed parade floats competitions musical performances puppet shows fireworks etcetera .
