Visit Cuvette-Ouest


The Cuvette-Ouest region of the Republic of the Congo is situated in the northcentral part of the country. It is composed primarily by tropical rainforest, and it is bordered in the west by Gabon, while to its east lies the Noumbi river. The population mainly consists of ethnic groups such as Baka and Tetela people.

Cuvette-Ouest offers a variety of interesting places for tourists to visit. One must-see spot is Mindouli Lake, known for its abundance of wildlife and great opportunities for bird watching. Another popular attraction in this region is Lac Tele National Park which contains some impressive scenery along with several species of plants and animals.

A historical fact about this area that sets it apart from other regions in Republic Of The Congo is that it was once part French Equatorial Africa before becoming a part of modern day Republic Of The Congo after World War II ended in 1945.
