The National Museum in Prague is the Czech Republic’s oldest and largest museum. Located in the heart of the city, it’s home to over 14 million items from a variety of fields, spanning natural history and anthropology to art and music. Its grandiose building stands out among the capital’s neoclassical architecture, inviting visitors to explore its immense collection. Notable pieces include first-rate Czech Baroque paintings, ancient Egyptian artifacts and fossils from all around the globe. Most famous of all are probably the prehistoric bones found under one of its walls back in 1879 - which gave evidence for human evolution for the first time ever. Any visitor should not miss its main exhibition halls as well as its permanent exhibitions on Bohemian history and science.
