Point of Interest

Prague Castle is an iconic landmark located in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. It is an ancient castle built in around 880 A.D., making it one of the oldest castles in Europe. The grounds include numerous courtyards and gardens that are composed of various architectural styles from different eras over time. There are dozens of beautiful and important monuments on display here for visitors to explore, such as the Saint Vitus Cathedral which is a spectacular example of Gothic architecture and dominates Prague’s skyline.

During your visit to the castle, make sure to explore some must-see sights including Strahov Monastery Library which contains an impressive collection of books, paintings and artifacts or take a look at the changing of guards four times every day at noon in front of what was once King Vladislav II’s palace. With so much history to discover, you will definitely want to spend more than one day here!

Plan your visit

Start planning your visit to Prague Castle in advance! Make sure you check the opening hours and plan your route. It’s best to book tickets online to avoid long queues. Don’t forget to take a camera - there are plenty of stunning views from the castle grounds. Prepare for a full day of walking, as it takes a while to explore all the different areas of this historic site. When packing, make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring some snacks and water - many parts of the castle have limited food options available. Finally, don’t forget that it is likely to be very crowded so make time for breaks away from the tourist throng if you need them. Enjoy exploring one of Europe’s most impressive castles!
