Visit Azua Province

The Azua Province of the Dominican Republic is a region located on the south coast of the island. With a rich
cultural history, this province is full of things to do and see. Visitors can explore the city's colonial-era churches, visit Laguna Redonda for some fishing or bird-watching, or take part in a traditional rodeo at Parque Nacional La Hispaniola. Along with its rich cultural heritage, there are also beautiful beaches like Playa El Tamarindo that have crystal blue waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

Additionally, Azua Province has a unique historical fact: it was home to one of the first Spanish settlements in America! Established by Diego Velazquez de Cuellar in 1504 during his conquest of Hispaniola, this settlement went on to become Santiago de los Caballeros - now one of the largest cities in Dominican Republic.
